Final Update

So, after my 6 hour hiatus, I couldn't really get my mojo back and managed to only 35 pages of my nonfiction book which should've been an easy read. I put that down and read about 7 pages of a novel. The sleep monsters were all over me and by almost 3 am, I gave up.

One good thing came out of this read-a-thon: I hosted a pretty cool mini-challenge that many enjoyed. I can't wait to host it again in October.
Update the 1st

Whoa! Nearly 6 hours of readathon have snuck upon me. So far, I've fed the kid breakfast, fussed at the mr., taken one half hour break, and completed one book: The Uncommon Reader. I'm about 60 pages shy of completing my book: The Skin I'm In. It's a beautiful day out and I have to go in it in a few hours for something I committed myself to without consulting my calendar to note that it was readathon day. Overall, it's a good day to be reading.

Books completed: 1
Pages read: 232
Time spent reading: about 4.5 hours
Snacks consumed: two boiled eggs, 1 banana, handful of cashews, 1 glass of OJ, 1 glass of water

It's time again for some hardcore, all day reading. This year I decided to pitch in since I'm a veteran 'thon-er. I'm even hosting a mini-challenge so stay tuned for that. You can also expect updates every three or four hours on what and how much I've read and snacks consumed (yeah, that's purely gratuitous information). In the last 6 to 8 hour stretch, you can expect pure delirium and a mean fight to stay awake.

Books on the agenda include:
The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett
The Skin I'm In by Sharon Flake
The Gardener by S.A. Bodeen
Hair Story by Ayana Bird and Lori Tharps
Bitter Sweets by Roopa Farooki
The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad Zama

Snacks: TBA

I'll be updating via this post and twitter (@browngirlspeaks). Happy readathon!

But then it's always a good day for reading. Just that it doesn't happen as often as it "should"!

Happy Read-a-Thon-ing!
